It’s something we really “Wannabe” true! A new Rolling Stone interview with boy bander A.J. McLean has ‘90s music fans in a tizzy after he didn’t immediately shoot down the rumors of a potential Spice Girls-Backstreet Boys joint tour.
“The Spice Girls tour has been this idea bouncing around for the past year and a half, and it’s something we’re still talking about,” he told the magazine. “But we’re going back in on the 12th to dust off the cobwebs. We’re working with a new producer, Jay Cash, who wrote ‘Sugar’ for Maroon 5. This is just the beginning phase, but we’re hoping to have the album done before our cruise in May.”

Indeed, the ladies from across the pond have also been entertaining the idea of reuniting ahead of the girl group’s 20th anniversary (that’s right, you’re old) — though they haven’t specifically mentioned the joint tour.
“There’s nothing to really spill because nothing has been announced, nothing’s official,” Mel Brown said last month on The Meredith Vieira Show. “I mean, yes, we are in talks because it’s our 20th anniversary. And I want something to happen. I’m forcing them a little bit, but yeah. I’ve been saying it for five years, ‘We are reuniting. We are, aren’t we?’”
She also slammed rumors that she insulted Victoria Beckham or claimed she wouldn’t be involved in a potential reunion.

“She’s my friend. I adore her. I love her to pieces,” Brown, 40, told Vieira. “If we do something it has to be all of us. That’s the whole point.”
Geri Halliwell echoed the sentiment in a recent appearance on This Morning, saying, “It’d be nice to celebrate [the 20th anniversary] in some way. So I think I can say that there have been talks… I think that’s fair and honest.”
