Leonardo DiCaprio’s handsome face is everywhere these days — including, apparently, Russia. As first noted by Russian news organization English Russia, there is a man in the country who is a dead ringer for the three-time Golden Globe winner and current Oscar front-runner.
“We found Leo in Russian forces,” the organization tweeted on Thursday, January 14. The man pictured in the photo looks to be a member of the Russian forces, as he is wearing a light blue collared shirt with a military patch sewn onto the right sleeve.
His blue eyes, mouth and light goatee are also eerily similar to the 41-year-old actor’s, but the difference between the two men lies in their physiques: The look-alike man has a slightly larger build.
Fans of the Revenant actor were quick to take to Twitter to voice their amusement over the accidental twin.
“Draw me like one of your Chechen girls,” one fan tweeted in reference to a timeless line uttered by Kate Winslet’s Rose to DiCaprio’s Jack in 1997 blockbuster Titanic.
“Leonardo DiCaprio is going to extreme lengths to nail his next part as a Fat Russian Security Guard,” another wrote.
Coincidentally, in a recent interview with German paper Welt am Sonntag, DiCaprio expressed interest in playing controversial Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Putin would be very, very interesting,” he said. “I would love to play him. I think there should be more films about Russian history because it has many stories worthy of Shakespeare. That is fascinating for an actor. Lenin also would be an interesting role. I would like also to star as Rasputin.”
DiCaprio is up for the best actor Oscar this year for his leading role in The Revenant; the Alejandro G. Iñárritu-helmed film is up for a whopping 12 nominations.
