Lil Wayne Doesn't 'Feel Connected' to Black Lives Matter Movement

Lil Wayne revealed in a new interview that he doesn’t “feel connected” to the Black Lives Matter movement. The “Lollipop” rapper, 34, bluntly shared his opinion about the national campaign during a Tuesday, November 1, appearance on ABC News’ Nightline.

When the topic came up, Wayne seemed rather puzzled. “What is it? What — what do you mean?” he questioned ABC News’ Lindsey Davis.

After Davis offered clarification, the hip-hop star explained why he isn’t personally invested in the push behind Black Lives Matter. As previously reported, celebrities and civilians banded together after several reports of policemen shooting innocent black people — including Alton Sterling and Philando Castile — made national headlines earlier this year.

“That just sounds weird, I don’t know that you put a name on — it’s not a name; it’s not ‘whatever, whatever,’” Wayne told Davis. “It’s somebody got shot by a policeman for a f–ked up reason.”

However, as one of the most successful recording artists of all time (Wayne has more Billboard Hot 100 appearances than Elvis Presley), the chart-topper believes that his accomplishments in the music industry provide proof that America does indeed value the lives of black men.

“I am a young, black, rich motherf–ker,” he boasted. “If that don’t let you know that America understand black motherf–king lives matter these days, I don’t know what it is.”

He then pointed to an offscreen camera man and continued to state his case. “That man white. He filmin’ me. I’m a n–ger,” he told Davis. “I don’t know what you mean. Don’t come at me with that dumb s–t, ma’am.”

The Grammy winner then flashed a big smile showing off his diamond grills and added: “My life matter — especially to my bitches.”

Pressed about whether he feels at all connected to the Black Lives Matter movement, Wayne reiterated his stance. “I don’t feel connected to a damn thing that ain’t got nothin’ to do with me. If you do, you crazy as s–t. You,” he said, pointing at Davis. “Not the camera, you. Feeling connected to something that ain’t got nothin’ to do with you? If it ain’t got nothin’ to do with me, I ain’t connected to it.”
