Is it written in the stars? Us Weekly Video caught up with famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson to find out what the stars in the sky can tell us about celebrity stars. Watch the interview above to see it all!
The science expert, 57, who hosts his own radio show called “StarTalk” — which fuses physics and pop culture — compared Kim Kardashian to the Betelgeuse star, one of the brightest in the entire atmosphere. “Betelgeuse is big and bold and it’s in your face. You can’t look in the sky without it calling attention to you,” he told Us. However, he suggested this means things could all blow up for the reality star. “I caution, Betelgeuse is a prime candidate for exploding as a supernova. I don’t know how.”
Kardashian, 35, wasn’t the only big star who Tyson weighed in on. He joked that one A-list actor might be an alien, in his scientific opinion. “I think every now and then someone comes along, like Isaac Newton, like Albert Einstein … where they are far beyond anyone else’s talent in what it is they do,” he explained. “That is the best evidence that aliens are sending us people, because they know that we’re lagging behind and we need some help to get better actors, better scientists, better whatever.”
The author also broke down exactly how science can be useful in the celebrity world. He answered whether it can predict breakups such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce or foresee who might become famous one day.
